The Belle Terre Civic Association will be holding their annual Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday night, Oct. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The event will held at the open field area at the intersection of St. Andrews Boulevard and Doral Drive.
This year’s event was moved from the national date in August to the October date due to the intense heat that the area usually experiences during the early weeks of August.
The organization encourages all the Belle Terre area residents to come out and meet their neighbors. There will food and beverage for all ages, games and entertainment for the children, visits by the area police, fire departments and school and parish officials.
The organization will also be wrapping up their summer membership drive at the event. Residents of the Belle Terre area are encouraged to join the group. Dues are $20 per year.
This year the organization started their “Yard of the Month” program again. During the summer months the following residents were recognized for having the best manicured lawns. Winners thus far were Mr. and Mrs. Greg Bourgeois (Augusta), Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Hayes (Country Club) and Mr. and Mrs. Greg Richoux (East Canterbury).
During the month of October the organization is encouraging all their residents to decorate their homes for Halloween. This year will be the first ever Halloween decorating contest within the area. Judging will be done during the week of Halloween and prizes will be awarded for three best decorated homes or yards.
On Saturday, Nov. 20, the BTCA will be holding their annual food collection for the St. John Ministry of Care. Residents are asked to start stocking up on cake mixes, cake icing, Stove Top Stuffing, macaroni and cheese and rice. The residents are asked to put their food items at their mailboxes on that date and crews of volunteers will be around to pick up the donations.
During the month of December the organization will hold their annual wine and cheese gathering at the Belle Terre Country Club. During December the organization will be starting up their annual Christmas home decorating contest. More details will be announced shortly.
