LAPLACE – An argument between employees at the LaPlace Taco Bell turned violent Monday and ended with one employee jailed and the other hospitalized, according to a release from the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the restaurant, located in the 500 block of Airline Highway, at 10:14 a.m. in response to a stabbing. Capt. Dane Clement, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said when deputies arrived they found a 25-year-old LaPlace man on the floor with stab wounds to his upper body.
Clement said the victim, whose name was not released, was transported to University Hospital in New Orleans for treatment. He remains in the hospital, but his condition was not known Tuesday.
Clement said the suspect in the stabbing, Breshell Nicholson, 21, of LaPlace, fled from the restaurant. She was located at short time later at her residence, where she was arrested for aggravated battery.
The investigation is ongoing, but Clement said witnesses told deputies Nicholson was the perpetrator. She also confessed to detectives. Nicholson is being held in the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on a $15,000 bond.
Employees at the restaurant said the location closed the dining room to customers shortly after the incident Monday, but the drive-through remained open all day. The restaurant reopened in full on Tuesday.
