LAPLACE – Northbound lanes of Interstate 55 from LaPlace to Manchac will experience alternating lane closures this week while work is done to repair equipment on both sides of the roadway, according to a release from the state Department of Transportation.

Alternating closures began Tuesday morning and are expected to continue through Saturday. The closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. One lane will remain open at all times, but motorists can expect some delays through the area.

The closure will allow vehicles 12 feet wide or smaller to pass through the construction zone. Anything larger must use U.S. Highway 51 as an alternate route.
