August Lennix Sr., a retired operator at a grain elevator, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Ocshner Hospital. He was born in New Orleans and raised in LaPlace. 

Survivors include his brother, Van. B. Lennix, his daughters, LaKeisha Lennix and Tomeka Coleman of Houston, and sons, Anthony Lennix and Gregory Lennix of Dallas, Lelyendell Gray, James Baker of Atlanta and August Lennix Jr. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall located at 2963 Admirals Landing St., Paulina.
