Desty Darlings go to National Dance Team Championship

DESTREHAN – Recently, the Destrehan High School Desty Darlings Dance Team attended a UDA Elite Summer Camp at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. The girls received many awards, including Superior ratings for their Home Routine, Superior ratings for their Team Routine and Superior ratings for All individual evaluations. They placed second for their Home Routine and Team Routine. The girls also took home the spirit stick award on the first night of camp, which was given to them by the UDA Staff. With these awards, the girls received a bid to The National Dance Team Championship located in Orlando, Fla. in Feb. 2012. Senior Desty Darlings who were chosen for the American All-Star award were Hailee Weber, Katie Pitts, Kimberly Feagley, Ambria Sylvain, Kelly Staub and Kelsey Sensebe.
Last year, the Destys won first place in the state of Louisiana for their Jazz and Hip Hop routines at the UDA State Competition and at the American All-Star State Competition. The girls will be competing again to defend their state titles in January 2012. The Desty Darlings are under the direction of Director Micque Voges and Assistant Director Jessica Johnson.
