National Health Center week big success

St. Charles Community Health Center celebrated National Community Health Center week with a series of events on Aug. 6 – 13.
On Aug. 6, a back to school event was held at St. Anthony Outreach in Luling, school supplies were distributed to 525 children. This event was a partnership with St. Charles Community Health Center, United Way of St Charles Parish and Blessed to Be a Blessing. On Aug. 8, blood pressure and glucose screening were provided free of charge to the community; on Aug. 10, over 35 people received free cholesterol screening compliment of PSS; on Aug. 11, free mammography was provided to uninsured and underinsured women compliment of the Susan G. Kormen for the Cure; on Aug. 12, free immunization was provided to uninsured and underinsured children and on Saturday, Aug. 13, walk in school and sports physicals were available to the community.
“This week was an exciting week for the community health center” stated Mark Keiser, CEO of St Charles Community Health Center. “We were able to offer the community needed services at no cost to the patient.”
The health center continues to provide services by offering flu shots for $15 at the community health center walk-in is available Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. – noon, and in the Luling location only Saturday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. For more information call 985-785-5800.
