The St. John the Baptist Parish School system participated in the recent LA GEAR UP Fall Conference held at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge.

The parish was represented by West St. John High School, East St. John High School, John L. Ory Magnet School and district personnel. LA GEAR UP stands for Louisiana Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.

It is a federal grant initiative with the Louisiana Systematic Initiatives Program housed at the Board of Regents in Baton Rouge. LAGEAR UP promotes postsecondary options in schools through the state of Louisiana.
