River Parishes Community College receives Marathon donation

SORRENTO – Marathon Petroleum Corporation LP donated $1,500 in scholarships to River Parishes Community College in Sorrento.
The donation, which will be divided into three $500 scholarships, will benefit River Parishes Community College students who reside in St. John the Baptist Parish and have maintained a 3.0 grade point average or better.
Dr. Joe Ben Welch, River Parishes Community College Chancellor, expressed his gratitude for the donation.
“Three students are closer to making their dreams a reality thanks to Marathon,” said Welch.
MPC is the fifth largest refiner of transportation fuels in the in the United States, with one of its six refineries in Garyville. MPC is the parent company for several subsidiary companies that engage in refining, marketing and transportation operations primarily in the Midwest, Gulf Coast and Southeast regions of the country.
Presenting the check for MPC were Aulton “Bubbie” Anderson, Jaime De La Cruz and Aspen Steib.
Applications for the three scholarships will be released at a later date.
