LAPLACE – Area residents who subscribe to Reserve Telecommunications Co. for cable, phone and Internet should have seen a slight drop in their October bills as a result of outages caused by Hurricane Isaac.
Phyllis Madere, community outreach manager, said the company offered customers a roughly one-week credit on their bills for services lost during the storm. Madere said RTC sent out postcards to subscribers explaining the work that took place following the storm and informing them of the credit.
“The staff worked as quickly as possible to get our services back on line to residents,” Madere. “We even had many employees who lost their homes who came back to work right away.”
Madere said residential cable service subscribers received a $15 credit, internet subscribers were given a $12 credit and telephone customers received a $7.50 credit.
Madere also said RTC is working with residents who have temporary housing arrangements. She said if services need to be moved, residents are allowed to keep the same phone number and service addresses. She said as residents return to their homes, disconnect and reconnection fees will be waived.
“We just wanted to do whatever we could to help our residents get back to normal,” Madere said.
