James R. McTopy Sr., 88, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Therese Faucheux McTopy and father of James R. (Jay) McTopy Jr. (Janice), Margaret McTopy Munoz, Debbie McTopy Frederiksen (Michael Sr.) and Jill McTopy Granier (John). He is also survived by six grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Frank and Georginne Donaldson McTopy.

He was preceeded in death by five brothers and three sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a native of Garyville and resident of LaPlace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services. Visitation will be held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline, LaPlace, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by religious services in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery in LaPlace. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred. The family would like to thank the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home and Serenity Hospice.
