Trio of drug arrests in St. John

LAPLACE – Two St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigations culminated with three recent arrests.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division initiated an investigation Nov. 14 after receiving information about illegal drug activity. On Dec. 6, detectives executed a judicial court authorized search and seizure warrant at 413 S. Church St. in Garyville, the residence of Derrick Gauff, 26, and Dominique Weber, 27. Detectives recovered approximately $1,200 worth of marijuana, two bottles of promethazine with codeine, 36 hydrocodone pills, $18,040 in U.S. currency, a handgun and ammunition.

On Dec. 7, Weber turned herself in to authorities. She was arrested and booked with distribution/manufacture schedule I CDS, distribution/manufacture schedule II CDS, possession of schedule II CDS, possession of a firearm with an obliterated number and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Dec. 11, Gauff turned himself in to authorities. He was arrested and booked with distribution/manufacture schedule II CDS, distribution/manufacture schedule I CDS, possession of schedule II CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated number.

In an unrelated investigation, detectives received information about illegal drug activity and initiated another investigation on Dec. 12. On Dec. 14, detectives executed a judicial court authorized search and seizure warrant at 359 Captain G. Bourgeois St. in LaPlace, the residence of Junius M. Banks III, 51. Detectives recovered numerous prescription medications that included Vicodin, Percocet, Lortab, Valium and Soma and a handgun recovered from a vehicle that was involved in the investigation.

Banks was arrested and charged with distribution/manufacture schedule III CDS, distribution/manufacture schedule IV CDS, distribution/manufacture schedule II CDS, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal carrying a weapon with CDS.
