EDGARD – West St. John High School students got the opportunity to speak with representatives from 20 colleges during the school’s Family Career Fair.
Nearly 200 ninth- through 12TH-graders attended the fair in the school’s gymnasium.
“The career fair gives students the chance to get important information that they can use to make a decision that will impact their academic future,” said Shanda James, WSJH guidance counselor. “It’s better for them to get that information early.”
The colleges discussed application procedures, admission requirements and what students should be doing now to prepare for college with the students.
James advised parents to help their children explore TOPS and other financial aid opportunities as soon as possible to make students’ college dreams a reality. James said WSJH is helping in that effort by having a Career Compass coach meet with juniors and seniors one-on-one once a week to discuss financial aid and admission requirements.
