Support Andouille Fest’s return

The Andouille Festival will be returning to Highway 51 Park this weekend after a Hurricane Isaac-induced hiatus last year.
And this year it’s more important than ever to come out and support the parish-run event. Even though the parish generally loses money on the festival, it continues to hold it to give St. John’s residents a place to gather and show the rest of the world what they are made of.
The 2013 edition of the festival features an expanded musical lineup and a long list of vendors. The setup will be a little different, hopefully making it easier to find whatever you’re looking for. This year’s schedule of events features Saturday cooking demonstrations in addition to the usual Gumbo Cook Off and Sunday Jazz Brunch. Sunday’s schedule is also a little heavier than usual as the Andouille Pageants for the younger set will be held on that day.
L’Observateur will also be returning to Andouille Fest this year, not only to cover the action but to participate as a sponsor, as well. We will have a booth in the sponsors’ pavilion, so come by and see us. You can enter our drawing for a chance to win a Kindle Fire and other great prizes. Or you can take advantage of our special offer on yearly subscriptions. Or you can just come out to say hello and meet our great staff.
And don’t forget to check out our special Andouille Fest tabloid section. It has everything you need to know about this year’s event and a special pullout map and schedule of events you can take with you to Highway 51 Park this weekend.
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
