VACHERIE – The members of Highway Baptist Church in Vacherie recently broke ground to commence building for the church’s new multipurpose center.
Rev. Wesley Brown said the new facility will function as a venue for repasts, banquets, baby showers and other church functions. Officials are mum concerning the specifics in the construction of the new building but said it will house a kitchen, serving area and several classrooms.
Brown said church offiicials received the greenlight for the project just last month.
“It’s important, not only for the growth of the church but for the future of the church, so that we can leave a positive note for the youth and future church members,” said Brown.
The seven-month project is tentatively due for completion in April or May 2014.
