L’Observateur is getting into the true spirit of the season this year with a new contest designed to thank our readers and advertisers for their support by giving away gift cards from local businesses.
The contest, called “Holiday Hoopla,” begins Saturday. In the paper on that day you will find a full-color, four-page pullout loaded with holiday cheer and gift ideas from the contest’s participants and sponsors as well as the contest entry form. The section will also appear in the Nov. 27, Dec. 7 and Dec. 11 editions.
At each participating business, you will find a Christmas stocking lovingly decorated with the words “Holiday Hoopla” by students at John L. Ory Magnet School in LaPlace. Just place your entry form in the stocking, and you’ll be entered to win one of scores of valuable gift cards from participating businesses. Entries must be submitted at a participating business; no entries will be accepted at L’Observateur’s office.

Each week, winners will be drawn at random, and those lucky individuals will then get to draw gift cards. At the end of the contest, any gift cards not given to weekly winners will be given to one “grand prize” winner.
With Thanksgiving falling so late this year, the Christmas shopping season is a short one, so get a jump on it with L’Observateur’s holiday contest. It’s much more than a bunch of hoopla.
