LAPLACE – The River Parishes area is already three weeks into Lent, and many area schools are participating in the tradition by holding fish frys and serving special Lenten meals.
Ascension of Our Lord School will be selling catfish plates on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the corner of Greenwood and Newport drives in LaPlace. Customers have the option of purchasing plates with two fillets and two side dishes or purchasing menu items a la carte.
St. Charles Catholic High School also does fish frys on Fridays at the school on Dominican Drive in LaPlace. Customers can purchase plates from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
St. Peter Catholic School in Reserve will serve Lenten meals every evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The menu will vary from night to night, but the price is always $8. Residents who are interested should contact Paula Poche at 985-536-4296.
