Authorities arrest manslaughter suspect from Texas found hiding in Louisiana

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team arrested a man wanted in Texas for manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities report that the suspect, 37-year-old Lawalter Brown, is known for using multiple aliases and has been evading capture in Killeen, Texas, since 2022.

Brown was taken into custody on Monday, Jan. 13, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Marvin Gardens in LaPlace. According to deputies, Brown is wanted for several felony warrants out of Texas for manslaughter and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in 2022.

The sheriff’s office believes Brown had been hiding out in St. John Parish for approximately one year using different aliases and attempted to deceive officers while being apprehended.

The SWAT team members obtained Brown’s whereabouts from tips and began conducting surveillance of the Marvin Gardens locations.

Brown exited the location and was quickly apprehended without incident.
