Eight people injured as St. John’s Parish altercation escalates to gunfire

Eight people were injured after a shooting outside of a Wallace bar on Saturday morning, according to St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office.

Three people were shot, four others sustained graze wounds and another was “suffering from a separate injury”, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre, confirmed on Saturday morning.

The incident which took place near the 58 hundred block of LA 18 in Wallace shortly after midnight on Saturday. According to authorities, St. John deputies had responded to reports of gunfire outside a Wallace business in the 5800 block of Louisiana Hwy. 18 around 12:05 a.m.

No arrests have been announced by St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office. Deputies who arrived at the scene of the crime found the victims and several spent shell casings.

All victims were taken for hospital treatment and described as “stable,” though the severity of their injuries was not disclosed.
