St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests man for possession of gun, illegal drugs

A man in St. John the Baptist Parish has been arrested for being in possession of a gun and illegal drugs.
On Wednesday, Jared Martin, 31, was arrested on Cambridge Drive in LaPlace after a traffic stop. Deputies recovered a 9 mm semiautomatic gun which was reported stolen in Texas and marijuana while carrying out a routine search of the car.
Martin was traveling south on Cambridge Drive when a deputy observed his failure to come to a complete stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Cambridge Drive and Revere Drive. When the deputy approached the driver side front door, he noted the odor of marijuana emitting from the car.
He was booked with possession of marijuana over 28 grams, illegal possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of a stolen firearm. He was issued a traffic citation failure to stop at stop sign, driving on median and driving with a suspended license.
Martin is being held in the parish jail in LaPlace under a $21,650 bond.
