RESERVE — Fellowship, education and community outreach were part of the menu during the recent South Central Louisiana Technical College Ministers of Faith Breakfast.

An invitation was extended to River Parishes church leaders to the first-time event, which established partnerships between the church leaders and the college in order to foster communication between the organizations.

The goal was for these religious entities to become knowledgeable of South Central Louisiana Technical College, Reserve Campus and what it can provide to their respective members and the residents of St. John the Baptist Parish through education and training.

Bishop Ronald Frank opened the meeting with the Invocation.

Campus Coordinator Charles Perez provided a wealth of information on SCLTC resources, including its nine program offerings, the Work Ready (GED) course of study and the proposed campus expansion.

SCLTC Director of Student Affairs Melvin Harrison explained all facets of student services and concluded the meeting.

Attendees were provided an extensive tour of the campus so they could see firsthand the programs and resources available to the students.

College leaders hope they are better informed to convey to others the opportunities the college can provide.

“We feel strongly that with the guidance of local religious leaders assisting us in providing citizens of St. John the Baptist Parish with information on our college, we can change lives and create promising futures for the people of this community,” Campus Dean Cindy Poskey said.
