St. James Parish Hospital has announced that the 2023 Employee of the 4th Quarter is Karen Keim McGaff, RT, RVT, RCS, RDMS, a vascular ultrasound technologist.

McGaff was nominated by fellow staff and chosen by the Executive Leadership Team for her dedication to the hospital.

She graduated from Cabrini High School in 1978. She then attended Charity School of Radiology Technology from 1978-1980 and Charity School of Ultrasound Technology from 1980-1981.

McGaff served in the hospital’s Radiology Department from 2004 to 2013 at which time she transitioned to care for her mother after a stroke. She returned to the hospital in 2022.

McGaff was nominated by Whitney Falgoust, Vascular Ultrasound Technologist, for her positive attitude, dedication, courtesy and respect.

“Karen walks into work every day with a positive attitude and takes the day as it comes, no questions asked. If we have walk-ins, she will do them during her lunch breaks. She’s always supportive of everyone in the department and always encouraging us to be better than we were yesterday,” said Whitney.

“Her schedule is short but she always stays more than scheduled to help her coworkers. She goes well above her job description day in and day out. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor than this employee. Her dedication to this hospital is inspiring.”

McGaff commented, “I love working at St. James Parish Hospital. I enjoy arriving to work each day with each of my awesome coworkers.”
