I brought my granddaughter Charlie to her gymnastics class. As soon as it was over, I asked, “Where are we going for dinner?”

“Pope Yes,” she said without hesitation.

“Great! I’ve never been there. I love to try out new places.”

“Well, some people call it Popeyes.”

“Charlie!” I screamed. I had never heard her favorite fast food referred to as Pope Yes. Her mom said that when Charlie was first learning to read, that’s how she sounded out the word.

Isn’t it amazing how two people can look at the same word and see it totally differently?

Circumstances are like that as well. People experience the same situations and walk away with completely different attitudes. It’s always a choice.

Will I view a situation as impossible or positioned for a miracle? Will I focus on the difficulty or the strength of God’s power? Will I be disappointed or thankful?

When conditions are challenging, and my train of thoughts is barreling down the track of despair, I always have an option. Will I keep going full steam ahead, or will I flip the switch and turn at the Faith/Hope/Thankful Junction that’s always available. That route brings me peace and gives me the view of all the ways God has provided in the past.

Sometimes, life’s a lot; all the time, God is more than enough.
