Single-Vehicle Crash Kills Driver in Jefferson Parish

Metairie – On August 30, 2023, just before 11:00 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single-vehicle crash on US 61 (Airline Drive) near Grand Drive in Metairie. The crash ultimately claimed the life of a male whose identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
The initial investigation revealed a 2016 Honda Fit was traveling south on US 61. For reasons still under investigation, the Honda crossed the center line and traveled off the roadway to the left before striking a fence and overturning into a house.
The driver of the Honda, who was restrained at the time of the crash, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Impairment on the part of the driver is unknown and routine toxicology results are pending.
