LAPLACE—Kent St. Amant recently announced that he is seeking the office of Clerk of Court. A longtime resident, St. Amant has been in St. John Parish for 47 years.

A former St. John Sheriff’s deputy, St. Amant served for five years before moving on to enter the business world with multiple business ventures. During the past three years, he has worked in the green energy business. At the age 35, St. Amant enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for eight years, achieving an honorable discharge.

He also served in senior management for the Wyndham Resorts, the world’s leading hospitality company, as the director of sales & marketing. At the Majestic Sun Resort Destin Florida, St. Amant had a yearly budget of $ 49 million with a support staff of over 200 employees ranging from legal, administrative, sales and marketing. With over 30 years of managing employees and achieving success at every level, St. Amant believes his people business and managerial skills set him apart from others.

From day one, as your elected Clerk of Court, he will hire a forensic accounting auditing firm to balance the books to make the clerk’s office in compliance. He will add more staff to serve the East Bank office while recognizing that the parish seat will always reside in Edgard. He will also create a positive work environment and develop camaraderie with his fellow employees. Each supervisor and their employees will be held accountable for their respective job duties

Once sworn in, he will also implement  www.sjppropwatch.com .This important website will allow residents to sign up for email and text alerts notifying them in the event there is a potential title theft to their property.  The service will be available at no charge to the resident.
