LAPLACE — Aspen Dental opened this month at 1421 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace, offering comprehensive dental services in an accessible location.

Dr. Hugo Perez, DMD, said services include regular check-ups and cleanings, fillings, root canals, dental extractions and dental implants. Services will soon expand as oral surgeon Dr. Andrew Wetterlind joins the Aspen Dental team in LaPlace to perform sedations and oral surgery procedures such as wisdom teeth extractions, bone related surgeries, dental implants and sinus surgeries.

According to Dr. Perez, the LaPlace location also stands out with its in-house lab, allowing for a faster turnaround time for dentures.

Aspen Dental was started about 25 years ago in New York and has since expanded to encompass approximately 1,000 locations nationwide, each owned and operated by a licensed dentist.

Dr. Perez was exposed to the health field at an early age as the son of a doctor. He was drawn to dentistry and the idea of bright, healthy teeth. Originally from Florida, he completed his residency at LSU and fell in love with a Louisiana woman. Now entering his sixth year as a practicing dentist, Dr. Perez is thankful to be part of the River Parishes community.

“We are happy to serve the community of LaPlace. People are happy to have a centralized location and not have to go to the New Orleans Metropolitan area, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan area or even the North Shore,” Dr. Perez said. “I’m the only dentist here, so I will be here all day, every day. Some corporations have multiple dentists and things can get lost in translation, whereas I’m the only guy here, so I will know every patient who comes in. I’m an easy-going guy; the staff is easy-going, and we care about helping people.”

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. The staff may be available for one Saturday per month, as needed.
