BATON ROUGE – State Senator Gary Smith, D-Norco, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Louisiana Rural Caucus for 2023.
“Building strong communities across rural Louisiana means the state as a whole thrives,” Smith said. “Serving within the Rural Caucus and improving the lives of my constituents and their businesses is a job that never gets old because our stories are compelling.”
Senator Smith, who represents District 19, was first elected to the State Senate in 2011. He serves the Senate committees of Judiciary B as Chairman; Insurance; Revenue and Fiscal Affairs; Transportation, Highways and Public Works; Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay; and Senate Executive Committee.
With 72 members, The Rural Caucus is the largest of the legislative caucuses and includes Senate and House members from across the state.
