LULING — Astronaut John Shoffner, pilot for Axiom Space’s upcoming Ax-2 mission to the International Space Station on the SpaceX Dragon, met with fifth grade students at Luling Elementary and Norco Elementary in St. Charles Parish on Wednesday, April 26.

According to his bio at  https://www.axiomspace.com/astronaut/john-shoffner, Shoffner is a STEM advocate, business pioneer, and life-long space enthusiast who currently lives in Knoxville, Tennessee. Shoffner is honored to have this opportunity to not only achieve one of his greatest life’s dreams but also to use the Ax-2 mission to ignite a passion for STEM education in teachers and students worldwide to each pursue their ambitions.

In partnership with Limitless Space Institute and Crayola Experience, Axiom Space is conducting an international space art and poetry contest for students aged 5-18 around the question, “What would it look like to live in space?” From the International Space Station, Shoffner will announce the contest winners live on NBC’s TODAY this spring.
