LAFOURCHE PARISH — The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested a Raceland man for allegedly setting fire to two structures in his former neighborhood.
John Guidroz, 40, was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on Monday, March 27, on one count each of Aggravated Arson and Simple Arson.
Just before 7:30 a.m. on 3/27, Lafourche Parish Fire District #1 responded to a report of a mobile home and shed fire located in the 200 block of Morristown Road in Raceland. While the mobile home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, the flames threatened the two occupied mobile homes on either side of it.
Following an assessment of the scene and conducting witness statements, SFM deputies determined the fires were intentionally set and identified Guidroz, who used to live in the neighborhood, as a suspect in the case.
In an interview with deputies, Guidroz admitted to his role in the fires and was placed under arrest.
The SFM would like to thank the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
