Sometimes standing out from the rest of the crowd can get you out of a jam. Take this blue crawfish. When the folks at JT’s Seafood at 2908 Lake St. in Lake Charles opened up a sack of live crawfish recently and saw this blue one, it was saved from the near-certain fate of being eaten and was instead promoted to star status. The blue crawfish now resides in an aquarium at JT’s and gets to eat all the shrimp pieces it wants as customers come in and admire it. The blue crawfish likes to stay behind a rock, said JT’s employee Rachel Vidrine, but it is known to make an appearance when shrimp pieces are dropped in the tank. “Only about one in 10,000 crawfish will be a blue one. This is only the second one I’ve ever seen,” said Vidrine.
