2 arrested during Kenner traffic stop

On January 30, 2023, around midnight, a Kenner Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the 3000 block of Loyola Dr. for traffic related offenses. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver immediately exited the vehicle and started acting in a suspicious manner. He was detained and the passenger was ordered out of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers found cause to search the vehicle and located 88 grams of Marijuana, a hand-held digital scale, and a fully loaded AR 15 rifle, magazines, and additional ammunition. The driver, Tahj Humbles, 22, Kenner, was arrested and charged with RS 40:966 Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana, RS 40:1023C Possession of drug paraphernalia and RS 32:232 Red light violation. The passenger, Kentron Reid, 24, New Orleans, was arrested and charged with RS 40:966 Possession of Marijuana and RS 14:95E Possession of a Firearm in the presence a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Chief Conley commends the men and women of KPD for their work, the last couple of weeks they have taken serious fire power and narcotics off of the streets of Kenner.
