Paul Waguespack inducted into LBCA Hall of Fame

LAPLACE — Paul Waguespack, former head baseball coach for St. Charles Catholic High School, was recently inducted into the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Waguespack held a career record of 35-120-6, a 71% win percentage, while serving as head baseball coach at St. Charles Catholic from 2001 to 2013. His team made the playoffs all 13 years, averaging 24 wins per year. Under his leadership, the Comets became four-time state runners-up in 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The baseball program also had state semifinal finishes in 2001 and 2006.
Waguespack was the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Coach of the Year in 2002, 2008 and 2011, the Clarion Herald Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2009, a six-time District Coach of the Year, and the St. John Parish Coach of the Year in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Through the years, he also served as assistant coach, East Coordinator and West Coordinator for the High School All-Star Game.
Other 2023 inductees recognized at the Hall of Fame ceremony were Louis “Rags” Scheuermann, Kim Wells, Smoke Laval, Bobby Dickerson, Denton Dobie Perkins, Randy Blanchard, Tony Antley and Kenney Courville.
