LAPLACE — Students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School have used the holiday season to give back to others in a variety of ways.
A school-wide Thanksgiving food drive resulted in 52 boxes of food being distributed in the community. SJA’s Student Council led that initiative, as well as sponsoring a candy sale to help raise money for Hurricane Ian victims. Money raised from the candy sale was sent to students and families at Epiphany Cathedral Catholic School in Florida, as were gift cards that SJA families sent in.
SJA’s Vikings in the preschool program participated in giving back this holiday season by filling Boxes of Joy. The Box of Joy program provides an inspiring opportunity to send gifts to Haiti, Guatemala and other developing countries. SJA families filled 77 boxes packed with toys, clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. Each gift also included a rosary and The Story of Jesus.
Most recently, third grade Vikings honored St. Nicholas on his feast day by prepping gift bags for the residents of Twin Oaks and Convalescent Home.
