Joy Weber Gregersen quietly passed on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in Hammond, LA. She was born at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA on November 7, 1929 to her loving parents, Charles and Odette Weber. Joy was married to Albert F. “Greg” Gregersen for 47 years, who preceded her in death on March 22, 1999.
Joy is survived by her sons, Charles Chris Gregersen and Brother Michael K. Gregersen O.S.B., daughters, Laurie Gregersen Clement (Todd C. Clement) and Jodie Gregersen Neal Fitzpatrick (John J. Fitzpatrick III), and her grandchildren, Madison Angelina Neal and Amy Marie Fitzpatrick.
Joy was raised in Norco, LA where her father worked for Shell. She graduated from Destrehan High School in June 1947. After graduation, she entered Charity Hospital School of Nursing and finished her 3-year training to become a Registered Nurse. Joy loved her nursing career and worked part time while raising her children. She met her future husband Greg, a native of Michigan, in 1950 and they married in June 1951. Together they had four loving children. Joy retired from nursing in 1984 as a public health nurse in her home parish of St. Charles, LA. Joy had one sibling, Adele Weber Wetzel, whom she loved very much, shared many good memories, and preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church, 401 Spruce St. Norco, LA 70079. Visitation will be held from 9AM – 11AM with Mass to begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA 70047.
