LAPLACE — Captain Chip Wale was excited to speak with students in the aviation and drone training program last week at East St. John High School in Reserve. Captain Wale demonstrated the St. John Sheriff’s Office drones and talked about how they aid officers in investigations.
Students are learning about drones and the future of aviation. Among the topics discussed were airspace, weather and drone operations. Students who successfully complete the aviation and drone program will receive a part 107 certification for commercial drone flight operations.
