Avoyelles Parish – On August 28, 2022, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 107 at Louisiana Highway 115 Cutoff Road. The crash claimed the life of 70-year-old Robert D. Reich of Forest Hill.
The initial investigation revealed a 2014 Harley Davidson, driven by Reich, was southbound on Louisiana Highway 107. For reasons still under investigation, Reich’s vehicle crossed the centerlines into the northbound travel lane and collided head-on with a northbound 2021 Ford F-150.
Reich, who was wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger in the Ford F-150, who both were restrained, sustained no injuries. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.
While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police urges all motorists to stay alert while driving. A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences.
In 2022, Troop E has investigated 30 fatal crashes, resulting in 32 deaths
