SCSO arrests burglary suspect

On October 17, 2021 shortly after 7:00 a.m. the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 500 block of Evangeline Road in Montz, LA.
Deputies arrived on scene and learned that the victims were inside of their residence sleeping when they were woken by footsteps inside of the home. The victims observed the suspect, who fled the scene after observing the homeowners inside of the home.
Deputies and detectives began canvassing the surrounding neighborhood in efforts of finding the suspect. A short time later the Sheriff’s Office received a telephone tip about the subjects location. Within minutes, deputies and detectives located and arrested the subject accordingly.
The suspect is Floyd Murphy, a 43-year-old male from Carthage, Mississippi.
