Festival of the Bonfires prepares to choose new queens

LUTCHER — St. James Parish is gearing up for its 25th annual Festival of the Bonfires, and with those preparations comes the announcement of three pageants featuring local participants.

The Festival of the Bonfires Committee — as well as Miss Festival of the Bonfires XXIV Lindsay Dufresne and Teen Miss Festival of the Bonfires XV Sydney Poche — invite the public to join them for the annual Festival of the Bonfires Pageant, to be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 at Lutcher High School, located at 1910 W. Main St. in Lutcher.

Admission is $5 per person, with children ages 5 and under admitted for free. Concessions will be sold.

Six contestants — Sydney Jack, Paige Bourgeois, Victoria Vicknair, Audrey Martin, Baylee Bennett and Erin Monica — will vie for the title of Miss Festival of the Bonfires XXV.

The title of Teen Miss Festival of the Bonfires XVI is being sought by five contestants: Hailey Detililer, Cassidy Mistretta, Shelbi Livingston, Kamryn Deslattes and Kaivonh Lee.

The Festival of the Bonfires, held December 12-14 at Lutcher Park, will feature a 9 a.m. Dec. 13 children’s pageant, as well as numerous other activities, including bonfire lightings, food, entertainment, crafts and a car show.
