LAPLACE — A LaPlace man was arrested Thursday in connection with a September home invasion and assault.
According to authorities, the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Joel Martin, 27, of LaPlace Thursday morning on an outstanding St. John the Baptist Parish judicial court-ordered arrest warrant.
Martin was being sought in connection with a Sept. 6 home invasion that occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace.
The 26-year-old female victim told investigators Martin was in her residence and physically battered her when she returned home. She also told investigators Martin threatened to kill her Sept. 8.
Detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Martin on Sept. 8, and on Thursday he was arrested and booked with home invasion, simple assault, telephone communications: improper language/harassment and violation of probation/parole.
Martin remains in custody in lieu of a $65,000 bond and probation/parole hold.
Authorities said he has been arrested 15 times in St. John Parish since May 2004.
