Ascension, Assumption, and St. James guilty pleas 04/12 to 04/16

During the week of April 12 – April 16, 2021, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.
Ascension Parish:
Kidal Daniels, 332 Ambassador Dr. Westwego, LA., age 46, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
Jimmy Rutherford, 42245 Moody Dixon Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
John Betz, 17400 Florida Blvd. Holden, LA., age 61, pled guilty to Sexual Battery (5 counts) and was sentenced to 27 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.
Shanard Banks, 10662 Dodger Dr. Denham Springs, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession or Introduction of Contraband in a Penal Institution and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
Micah Roby, 34320 Te-Nom Landry Rd. Donaldsonville, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
Justin Stafford, 39172 Camp Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and False Imprisonment. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Maeghen Kling. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.
Assumption Parish:
Lance Richard, 589 S Holly Rd. Labadieville, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remaining 4 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.
Anthony Reyes, 627 W Jeansonne St. Gonzales, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 8 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
St. James Parish:
Taber Davis Jr., 9296 Central Project St. Convent, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.
