SJSO invites public to participate in the St. John Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy

To strengthen partnerships between police and the community, Sheriff Mike Tregre is inviting the public to participate in the St. John Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy.
Currently, eight people have registered. The class size is limited to 20, and the registration deadline is April 14.
This program is free and open to community members ages 21 and older who live or work in St. John Parish.
Classes will be held from 5:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 21 through June 23 at the brand new Lloyd B. Johnson Training Center at 947 Cambridge Drive in LaPlace. This great program provides participants with an insiders’ view of the operations of the sheriff’s office in a relaxed and interactive setting.
Sessions will feature information on Community/Public Relations, 911, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Division, Narcotics/Special Operations, Crisis Management Unit, Search & Rescue, Fleet Management, Training, Information Technology, Internal Affairs, Polygraph, District Attorney Investigators, Corrections, Bailiffs, Sex Offender Registry, Human Resources, Administrative Services and a demonstration with the Firearms Training Simulator.
