St. John Sheriff’s Office investigates Garyville shooting

Detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a woman injured on Tuesday, December 16, 2020 in the 100 block of Buster Street in Garyville.
About 11 p.m., officers responded to Buster Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located a 41-year-old female shot in the buttock inside a vehicle.
Through investigation, officers learned the victim was seated in a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence where she observed a black truck or SUV traveling west on Buster Street from South Church Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle traveled toward the end of the dead end street, turned around, and traveled back toward South Church Street. As the vehicle passed Buster Street, gunshots were discharged at the vehicle occupied by the female, then the vehicle fled the scene. The victim was shot through the passenger door. Emergency medical services arrived and provide aid to the victim than transported her to a New Orleans Hospital where she is in stable condition.
A motive is unknown at this time. No one else was injured. Officers also observed damage from gunshots to the front of a residence in the 100 block of Buster Street.
