LAPLACE — Two women were killed and two others were injured in a Sunday afternoon attack in the 2400 block of North Sugar Ridge Drive in LaPlace, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office. A suspect is in custody in the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility, and there is currently no threat to the community.

A man and a woman have been transported for medical treatment. Officers believe the weapon used was a knife.
