LAPLACE — Harry Sanders visited the L’OBSERVATEUR office Thursday afternoon to pick up his awards for meritorious service and heroism in the Vietnam War. The awards were found last week by Janice Fraisse on Arlington Street in LaPlace and returned to their rightful owner with help from L’OBSERVATEUR readers.

Sanders was thankful for the community’s help.

The awards were grouped together in a green portfolio with a United States American War Office emblem. Certificates state that the Secretary of the Army recognized Harry Sanders for meritorious service and heroism from the period of August 1969 to April 1970 in the Republic of Vietnam. The awards were dated April 29, 1970 and June 18, 1970.
