As we look forward to the football season, I recently read how, at halftime, coaches always tell their teams if they are losing that they can win in the second half. Halftime is for rest, but most importantly, how to plan to win the game. The message is, “We can turn things around and when the final whistle sounds, we will be the winner.”

The same is true in the game of life. Regardless of your age and the condition of your soul, you can regroup and determine where you will spend eternity.

My halftime was at age 45 when I made that decision. I’m glad I didn’t wait until now. At my age, I would have missed the exciting second half of my life.

The most important thing for you to remember is that God will never define you by your past, but the enemy will try to control and confine you by using it against you. It’s never too late to change. God is waiting and wanting you to make the decision to surrender to His plan for your life. A good example is the thief on the cross. When he acknowledged Jesus, Jesus said, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.”

The late Yogi Berra, the catcher with the New York Yankees in the ’40’s and ’50’s, said of a game, which also can be said of the game of life, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”
