LAPLACE – Local leaders have been selected to Governor John Bel Edwards’ Resilient Louisiana Commission, designed to help the state recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
St. John the Baptist Parish President Jaclyn Hotard has been chosen to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Task Force as part of the Resilient Louisiana Commission.
The committee, led by DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, will examine the impacts of COVID-19 to the state’s infrastructure system while creating meaningful discussion, ideas and a path forward. The goal is to work together to build a better and more resilient transportation network that will propel economic prosperity.
“I am honored to have been selected to the governor’s task force and will work alongside the other committee members to provide solid information and suggestions,” Hotard said. “Serving on this committee will allow me to have a seat at the table and engage in important conversations about improving Louisiana, and St. John, not only during this crisis but for many years to come.”
St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell will serve on the Energy Task Force of the Resilient Louisiana Commission.
Led by Cleco Power, LLC President Shane Hilton, the task force will focus on responding to the immediate crisis for the energy sector and provide input on long-term plans to make a more resilient energy future for Louisiana.
“The energy industry in St. Charles Parish plays a critical role in the State and National economy. I am honored to serve on this task force and look forward to helping create meaningful policies that will strengthen the energy sector and our local economy,” Jewell said.
Additionally, St. Charles Parish CAO Michael Palamone will serve on the commission’s Education and Workforce Task Force, which will focus on talent development, training needs of dislocated workers, and the revitalization efforts of businesses and industry.
