Sunday Update: St. John reports 749 COVID-19 cases; nearly 15,000 statewide presumed to have recovered

LAPLACE — As of the Sunday update from the Louisiana Department of Health, there have been 749 reported cases of COVID-19 and 64 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish. 

On Saturday, there were 747 recorded cases and 64 deaths in St. John Parish.  

St. Charles Parish has 542 reported cases and 36 deaths, while St. James has 239 reported cases and 18 deaths. 

Statewide, there are 26,773 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 261 cases since yesterday’s report. 

There have been 1,670 deaths statewide, which is an increase of 26 since Saturday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14. 

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,701 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 265 are on ventilators. 

The state is now reporting that 14,927 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of April 22.
