Michel: Continue to dream big dreams

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In the middle of praying some really big prayers, I thought, “Maybe I don’t have what it takes to pray for this.” Instantly another thought rushed in and swept it away. “No, but I have WHO it takes.”

And just as quickly, I remembered an old photo taken when my youngest daughter Victoria and my nephew Kameron (now in their mid-20s) were about 10 years old. It’s of Kameron slam dunking a basketball into the net as he looked at the camera and smiled. Victoria, the photographer, purposefully left out that Kameron was standing on a chair.

I smiled at the recollection. At that age, Kameron wasn’t intimidated by his dream to dunk a ball though he didn’t have the height or skill required. He had all he needed – a loyal cousin who helped to stage the shot and capture the moment.

God used that memory to remind me it’s not about me, what I have or what I lack. My prayers aren’t based on how much faith I think I have, but Who my faith is in. My faith is in the all-powerful God, Who is able to do so much more than I can imagine. I’m going to continue to dream big dreams, pray for what some may say is impossible, and rely on His will, ways, and timing. As David wrote in Psalms 25:5, my hope is in Him all day long.
