HAHNVILLE – St. Charles Parish will host its annual Trash Bash event from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. For the last 10 years, Trash Bash has promoted the removal of litter from local streets. This year, event sponsor United Way will offer first, second and third place prizes for the groups that collect the most trash. There will also be a raffle of an iPad and Apple Watch courtesy of Entergy in which all participants will be entered to win.

“First impressions make a difference and litter makes a bad impression for anyone coming to do business in our parish, so the removal of litter isn’t only important to our environment, but also to our quality of life,” said St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell. “We are hoping a little healthy competition attracts residents from all around the parish to participate as we come together to show our pride in the community.”

Volunteers can either choose a specific area to clean up or be assigned an area. All volunteers are encouraged to sign up ahead of time and can do so as individuals or as teams at www.stcharlesparish-la.gov/trashbash or by calling 985-331-8604. All equipment will be provided including pickup sticks, gloves and trash bags.

After the litter removal is complete, participants are invited to gather at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center to enjoy free food, music, snowballs and face painting sponsored by Pelican Waste, United Way, Entergy and D&G Electric.

The deadline to register for Trash Bash is March 3.
