St. Charles Sheriff’s Office seeks help finding suspect

On Feb. 3, at approximately 5:02 a.m., St. Charles Parish deputies responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Pilot Gas Station, 10405 Airline Highway in St. Rose, occupied by one subject, possible shooting up heroin.
When the officer arrived on scene, the suspect attempted to drive away in his vehicle, crashing into a ditch. The suspect was apprehended and detained in handcuffs and secured in the rear of a deputy’s Patrol S.U.V. While the deputy was investigating the scene of the crash just a few minutes after securing the suspect in the patrol vehicle, he observed his patrol vehicle driving away.
Deputies initiated a pursuit with the stolen patrol vehicle, traveling down Airline Highway towards New Orleans. One pursuing St. Charles Parish Deputy was involved in a crash on Airline Highway near David Drive in Jefferson Parish. The crash investigation was handled by Louisiana State Police.
Deputies continued pursuing the stolen St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicle into New Orleans, but lost sight of the vehicle near Xavier University.
Around 8 a.m., the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office received information pertaining to the stolen vehicle being abandoned in the 700 block of Toledano Street in New Orleans. Detectives recovered the vehicle shortly after.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for the suspect involved in this incident. The suspect is described as a white male, believed to be in his late 20’s or early 30’s. The male is described as being 110 lbs, and approximately 5’9” with dark colored, possibly brown hair above his hears. The suspect has a thin mustache and may still be handcuffed.
The vehicle that the suspect was initially in was reported stolen out of New Orleans.
