This weekend in Washington, D.C., crowds will gather to remember the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision and the 62 million babies who were aborted before they had a chance to enjoy life.

Twenty St. Charles High students, with chaperones, made the trip to silently protest the legalization of abortion.

Two of my granddaughters, Tiffani and Victoria, had the opportunity to make that trip with the school a few years ago. It’s an experience they will never forget.

On Jan. 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the Roe vs. Wade case. That decision declared abortion legal.

It’s been 47 years and although abortion is legal, the issue has not been settled in the minds of the people.

Many politicians, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents would like for it not to be an issue every election. Why? Because, according to God, it’s a matter of life and death.

I’m pro-life without reservations. I can’t understand how a person can claim to be a Christian and pro-choice. I can’t understand how someone can justify any wrong, even if it’s against God’s Word.

I thank God that we still have people who will take a stand for righteousness and are not afraid to let their voices be heard.

A few years ago, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Bishop Joseph Martino ordered every priest in the diocese to read a letter warning that voting for a supporter of abortion rights amounts to endorsing “homicide.” I agree.

Will the Roe vs. Wade decision ever be overturned? Is it possible?

With over 500,000 churches in America, maybe it’s time for those who call themselves Christians, to wake up and start electing pro-life public officials.
